PSL’s Most Expensive Player Whose One Run Cost Over 800,000 Rupees

The Pakistan Super League has entered its final stage, with the group phase now completed. Four teams have qualified for the next round: Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, Hyderabad Kingsmen, and Multan Sultans, while the remaining sides have been eliminated.

This season, franchises spent huge amounts on star players with hopes of match-winning performances. Let’s take a look at how some of the most expensive signings performed.

Sahibzada Farhan Justified His Price Tag

Multan Sultans signed Sahibzada Farhan for 57 million rupees, and he has delivered impressive performances.

So far, Farhan has scored 365 runs, including one century and two half-centuries, proving to be a valuable signing for Multan.

Salman Ali Agha’s Disappointing Campaign

Karachi Kings had high expectations from Pakistan T20 captain Salman Ali Agha, signing him for 58.5 million rupees.

However, he managed only 109 runs in 9 matches. His poor form hurt Karachi Kings, who were eventually knocked out due to an inferior net run rate.

Faheem Ashraf Failed to Impress

Islamabad United secured Faheem Ashraf for 80 million rupees in a major auction deal.

But his performances did not match expectations. In 9 matches, he scored just 53 runs and picked up 7 wickets, which is considered below par for such a high-priced player.

Fakhar Zaman Delivered With the Bat

There was strong competition among franchises for Fakhar Zaman, but Lahore Qalandars re-signed him for 79.5 million rupees.

Despite facing a ball-tampering allegation and serving a two-match suspension, Fakhar’s form remained outstanding. He scored 400 runs in just 8 matches.

However, Lahore Qalandars were still eliminated due to net run rate.

Saim Ayub’s One Run Cost Over 800,000 Rupees

Hyderabad Kingsmen bought Saim Ayub for a massive 128 million rupees, but he failed to produce a match-winning innings during the league stage.

He scored only 151 runs in 10 matches, meaning each run cost approximately 834,000 rupees.

Hyderabad Kingsmen will still hope for better performances from him in the playoffs, while Sharjeel Khan is also in strong form and waiting for his chance.

Final Verdict

The Pakistan Super League once again proved that expensive players are not always a guarantee of success. Some stars lived up to expectations, while others failed despite their huge price tags.

Now all eyes are on the playoffs to see which player can lead his team to the title.
